DappRadar’s State of Blockchain Gaming Report Q3 2022

It’s always a great day when this report releases. We strongly encourage you to read the full article, but we’ll drop a couple highlights below:

• $600M raised by Web3 Gaming projects, pushing this years total to over $2.3B (excluding Q4). Given the current state of not only the crypto markets but the worldwide economy, this figure showcases a robust momentum despite the downturn.

• Alien Worlds leads the charge in the space for quarterly unique active wallets (UAW) with 527K, while Move2Earn-based projects like Sweat Economy (385K) and SuperWalk (377K) trail closely behind.

• In the transaction volume arena, Axie Infinity ($90M) and Gods Unchained ($55M) remain at the pinnacle this quarter. For a bit of perspective, Alien Worlds had a transaction volume of $10M. This beckons the question: which metric matters more?

Sega’s Sangokushi Taisen

In an interesting reversal, despite calling NFTs boring mere months ago, the Co-COO Shuji Utsumi is now reinstating some optimism.

Sega has licensed its Sangokushi Taisen card game's IP for a blockchain endeavour with Double Jump.Tokyo. in an attempt to explore the blockchain industry in Asia further.

The intention is clear: “It would be fantastic if we could offer content that serves as an entry point, similar to the well-known puzzle games in the mobile gaming industry. The popularity of mobile games was shaped by the widespread availability of cell phones as infrastructure.”

Can Sega be the infamous Trojan Horse the space requires?

Both games have experienced recent incidents where assets have either been removed or become untradeable. If only NFTs reputation hadn’t been dragged through the dirt by scams eh. Digital ownership is a true utility for NFTs, we just need to overcome these rather large hurdles of scepticism.
