Your weekly gateway to the latest and greatest updates from both Clashed and the wider Web3 Gaming Industry.

Clashed Weekly Digest: Web 3 Curated

Diving into Clashed Phase 2, Project Zircon, Base Protocol, Web 3 “Drama” and much more from the Web 3 Gaming and wider crypto landscape last week.

Highlight of the Week

Peeking into the Future

The Clashed website is re-launching soon as we begin to enter Phase 2.
Squint your eyes at the photo below (Zoom in) and you might be able to find some hints at what’s to come. We expect to have concrete news surrounding Phase 2 in next weeks newsletter release, so hold your horses.

One thing you might spot is the results tab - this is a record of all the results from games played, and we’ll also be integrating them our discord community. Let’s find out who the best players really are and can you challenge them?

Skill-Based Gaming

A phrase often thrown around, but when the gaming is such a vast sphere, what does it actually mean? Well we’ve made a short thread to break it down for you.

Community Events

We’re all about our community at Clashed, and this week we’re hosting two tournaments for you to get involved in.

JUMP & Chess

If you’re interested in potentially winning some prizes and, more importantly, having fun, be sure to join us next Tuesday & Thursday between 1-3PM UTC.

Chess

In a departure from our usual Poker tournament, this week we are hosting a Chess tournament on Thursday. Chess is one of the many games coming to the Clashed Library in the future so we’re keen to see how the community reacts!

The tournament will commence at 2PM UTC, with each game operating under a 5-minute clock for some fast-paced strategic gameplay. You can learn more about our tournament inside our Discord.

Everyone is welcome, if you’re new to chess we recommend watching this guide.

Prizes Include (Per Tournament)
🥇 Diamond Pass NFT
🥈$25
🎁$10 to a random participant
The “Jumper” role is awarded to all JUMP participants too.

Web 3 News Round-Up

Did you know we release a daily digest everyday in our Discord?

MetaPixel’s Gran Saga Unlimited

Gaming

Gaming Demo Day

Prominent gaming accelerators, including Animoca Brands, Cipholio, GMA and more are hosting a demo day to showcase seven new projects from the Web 3 Gaming industry. The event is aimed at Investors, developers and gamers on October 12th. Seems like a good chance to gain some early alpha - attendees can register here.

MetaPixel

MetaPixel, a web3 gaming ecosystem built by NPIXEL and powered by Aptos sadly paused operations of its flagship games, Gran Saga: Unlimited - A fantasy MMORPG that launched their Alpha to high praise. However, It’s certainly not all over for MetaPixel, who re-instated their commitment to the web3 gaming movement in a public message via their Discord.

Industry

Opensea Studio

“OpenSea Studio, a one-stop shop for creators to launch and manage their projects, all on the world’s largest NFT marketplace.”

Sounds great right? Well, it comes at a cost, 10% of your revenue. We see the benefit especially for creators who value their time over anything, but this fee seems a little out of touch given the recent royalty controversies at OpenSea.

Despite the fee it’s definitely worth considering as a launching option. You can take a look at their blog post here.

Yuga Labs & Luca Netz

We’re combining these two features as they’re both relatively negative sagas from the previous week. Why can’t we just have sunshine and rainbows in Web 3?

Yuga Labs, previously valued at $4B, confirmed the lay off of an undisclosed figure of USA based employees as they begin to restructure the organisation and further outsource development. Co-Founder Greg Solano highlighted these changes are essential to ensure the company's continued viability in the current crypto and economic climate.

Luca Netz, CEO of Pudgy Penguins has come under scrutiny for his involvement in previous Web 3 failures. He addressed these through a (good) thread, explaining his endeavours. It’s a strange situation for us considering after recent events it was widely accepted Luca is a leading force for the space. Where do you stand on this?
